Washed Up Lax Plays in Citylax Southampton Shootout!

On August 26th, 2017, Washed Up Lax made its way out east to Southampton, New York to participate in its final tournament of the 2017 summer lacrosse circuit. The Citylax Southampton Shootout benefits urban lacrosse in New York City.

Washed Up came into the tournament essentially with a skeleton squad of players because some original players could not commit to the second tournament. For the day, the team had to play with a short bench of 16 players.

The team played in the tough “A” division featuring talent from top Division 1,2 and 3 schools. On the schedule was the Brooklyn Dodgers, a club team that participates in the ALL (largest post collegiate club lacrosse league in the country), Rad Dads and ULAX select.

Washed Up took down the Brooklyn Dodgers in a barn burning 6-5 game. The game was close with the teams trading leads all 50 minutes but Washed Up came on top with the go ahead goal being scored with nearly 3 minutes remaining in the second half.

The light roster began to take a toll in the second game. The Rad Dad squad received reinforcements from “free agents” who contributed mightily for the team and took down Washed Up with a final score 6-4. Our defense played strong all game.

In the final game of the day, Washed Up was out of gas. ULAX select was a team from Connecticut showcasing talent from top schools in the CAA. The score was out of hand before both teams mutually called the game off to get a head start on heading to the beach party.

Overall, the Southampton Shootout was a great experience! We will definitely consider playing again next year!
